Y Not Festival 2020
Summer 2020
Brand Identity & on site design
Y Not Festival has a brand update each year, but with ownership newly back in the hands of a Derbyshire local (and Y Not OG) I worked with the Y Not team to make 2020 extra special.
Y Not’s branding has always transported the audience out of Derbyshire - from Club Malibu to outer space. With the festival industry (and the world at large) becoming more aware of our impact on the environment, I wanted 2020 to be firmly rooted in Derbyshire.
Taking inspiration from the surrounding beauty of the Peak District I wanted to create a visual identity that celebrates the play between the festival and its rugged setting.
Anyone who’s been to Y Not will recognise the rolling Derbyshire hills that frame nearly every view, the Gritstone sheep who orbit the fields beyond the campsites and the rubble walls which divide arenas. Bringing these elements to the forefront not only illustrates a wonderful aspect of the event, but also points to the wider values and integrity of the reinstated ownership.
